Small Bathtub

Find a great small bathtub for your bathroom. Learn about what to look for first.

If you are like me, you probably bought or rented a house that turned out to have a bathroom with a small size, requiring the need for a small bathtub that fits the space.  This of course brings me to the main problem; your preferred bathtub cannot fit into the small bathroom.

This may mean that you cannot enjoy your bathing experience the way you wish. However, that would be a wrong assumption because there are now designs that allow you to fit a small sized bathtub in that bathroom of yours and still have a nice bathing experience. How is this possible at all? Well the truth is that there have been improvements in the way small bathtub designs have been done, taking into consideration the fact that a lot of homes economize on space.

How do these modern bathtub designs achieve this? We shall take a look at some of these improvements below.

  1. Seat vs. sleep: In most old bathtubs, the user lies down inside the tub and you very well know the amount of space that is taken up by this position. Any attempt to reduce the space consumed by a bathtub had to be approached from this angle. Today, the small bathtub just contains a seat. You can just sit in the tub instead of lying in it. Imagine the space this saves without losing your quality bath.

  2. Raise vs. depth: The old thinking usually left the bathtub sunken into the ground in order to give it some depth. This thinking is a bit faulty. What has been done now is that manufacturers are simply giving the short bathtub some leverage from the ground by giving it a kind of platform to stand on. This gives you the desired depth while still conserving space.

  3. Shape vs. space: The kind of materials used in constructing the small bathtubs these days makes it possible for the tub to assume a nice shape that will still fit into a part of your small bathroom.  The corner bathtub has become increasingly popular as a result.  This will not prevent it from having those great features that you desire.

  4. Walk-in bathtub: There is a new model amongst the small bathtub designs and this is the new walk-in tub. This model features a door on one side through which you can enter into the bath. The door also allows you to exit the tub. While in the walk in bathtub, you can sit down and enjoy your bath. It is becoming increasingly popular among the elderly age demographic and people who are physically challenged.

The small bathtub is quickly becoming en vogue, particularly with young couples who own houses that are not large, where the couples want to have bathtubs in their homes. If you are one of those people who fits this description and you’re still wondering how to make sense of that little space in your bathroom, you will do well to shop around.

The good thing is that most of the traditional bathtub manufacturers have taken note of the position of this demographic. Americh, American Standard, Duravit, and Kohler are amongst those who have a variety of small bathtub options in their repertoire of products. While you are cruising their shops, whether it be in person or online, you can check out what they have in stock.
